Playback cuts out halfway thru score
I have tried every online suggested fix. Still, at measure 52...silence for the rest of the piece. This happens at a first ending and the cursor goes back to the repeat sign but still no sound.

It does not play "silence for the rest of the piece". Instead, it simply stops playing.
The Measure properties show a Play count of 2: that's correct. However, the Properties tab of the volta show the Repeat list as blank. That's your problem.
Click on the 1st volta and open the Properties tab (upper left). Under Properties / Volta / Style, the first box is Repeat list. It is empty, but it needs to be "1". The same field with the 2nd volta selected is (correctly!) "2".
I made that change and the whole piece plays correctly.
