How to combine two identical notes of different voices?

• Jan 29, 2025 - 09:15

Good afternoon,
I type using the Guitar + tabs template. It needs to be like in Picture 1, but it turns out like in Picture 2. At the same time, even in tabs, the second note is forced to be played additionally on another string.
Can you help me?
Thank you!

Either both notes are dotted or they appear as in the second picture. Otherwise, the player cannot distinguish between them. So you must change the eighth to a dotted eighth.

In fact, only the A in Voice 2 is dotted (quarter note).
In Voice 1, we have three 8th notes. In this case, very common in guitar, it's customary to share the noteheads to obtain the display of your image 1.
See the GIF below.

  • Click on the first note 8th, then press "V" shortcut (visible/invisible toggle).
  • And do the same to hide the fret number "5" on the TAB staff.

It remains grayed out (it won't print anyway), but if you want to hide it on your screen too, go to menu View / Show / Untick Show invisible.
