opening midi
I want to open midi files without having to do a lot of clean up of rhythms.
How do I open midi files without having to quantize simple rhythms.

You do that by giving MuS MIDI files that have simple rhythms. Your Funky Stuff.mid file does not, by many, many miles.
I suggest loading the midi file in a DAW and use it's (automatic) quantize mechanism, save it and load the new file in MuseScore.
