Ped. simile
I don't know which forum to put this in since I'm a newcomer here however I think I found a way to make Ped. simile with the pedal marking.
So basically I used the Ped. symbol in the master palette to attach it to the note on the left hand and manually adjusted it to be under the staff. Despite it looking a bit better than some other solutions you need to manually adjust it so I don't recommend doing it this way. Using expression text (or whichever text you want) you can just write "Ped. simile" also works. BTW, this doesn't have playback so you need to put a pedal marking on it and hide it.

I'm confused. When I add a pedal symbol, it goes under the staff by default.
Easiest way to use the pedal symbol is to click to select the note where the player is to press down the pedal, then Ctrl+click to add the note where the play is to release the pedal. Then click one of the pedal line symbols from the Keyboard palette.
Repeat as necessary ...
... using different pedal symbols as necessary.
You can also select the pedal symbol and modify it from the Properties tab (upper left).

You would then use ped. simile on further, similar structures to indicate that they are to be pedaled in the same fashion. And, yes, to get playback you would have to actually enter the appropriate pedal symbols and hide them. Personally, I would simply include the pedal symbols and not use simile.
