Question about use of the different time signature styles
When are the different styles used? I'm familiar with all three that are available, but I've never thought about how to use them. I know the one time to every staff is the old reliable general use. And the large time signatures are good for conductors to have for reference, but I'm not sure about other than that? So what is the modern/current convention for individual, above system, and across stave time signatures?

It depends on your music style, your musicians and your publisher's preferences/requirements.
I'm stuck in 1970's British brass band, amateur vocal /piano and school orchestra scores which are all very orthodox.
