template malfunction

My custom template does not load properly. I have tried placing the same file in all of the Musescore 4\template folders on my computer, and it does not load properly. After putting the file in the folders, at each location, I have double-clicked to see if the file is correct and works, and it does in every instance. Musescore starts with my template. What else should I try? Thank you.
