"Alpha Channel" field disappeared from the "Select Colour" tab
To highlight a bar or a phrase I always used the method suggested in the Musescore HowTo: https://musescore.org/en/node/220071
- So first I created a line;
- Than I set it's colour and thickness in the Inspector (which was later renamed/redesigned to the Properties tab);
- Finally, to make the line transparent (so that I can see the notes underneath) I set the "Alpha Channel" in Properties/ Appearence/ Colour/ Select Colour tab.
Now I'm on the latest 4.5.1.25... version and it seems to me that the "Alpha Channel" field in Properties/ Appearence/ Colour/ Select Colour tab completely disappeared, the "Alpha Channel" field is gone. So at the moment I just can't find a way to make the line transparent.
See attached:
pic 1- earlier Select Colour (from the musescore handbook)
pic 2- recent 5.2 Select Colour, "Alpha Channel" field missing
Any info on where to set transparency/alpha channel, any workarounds or info on why it was removed is appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for your link but as I said, the opacity control "Alpha Channel" field (as shown on the pics and video of the link you shared) is completely gone, it's just not there anymore.
Please look at the pics below:
Pic 1 - Opacity/Alpha Channel field in earlier versions
Pic 2 - In the recent version there is no Opacity/Alpha Channel field. It is completely gone in the recent version, as you can see, it's just not there.
Just to clarify, here is a 3rd pic showing what exactly I would like to achieve with coloured highlight. For this opacity is a must. In earlier versions this was not a problem, but now, with the "Alpha Channel" field missing I couldn't come up with any workaround.

I believe that the link @Shoichi gave says that it's missing. It's not a resolution: the issue has not been resolved. So yes, it's missing.
Try this...
Open this file:
Highlight.mscz
Go to measure 13 and then Ctrl+Shift drag the green highlight into a palette. When you click on it, it will turn blue opaque and then black opaque when dropped into the palette:
Once in the palette, you can right click the (now black) highlight and, in Palette cell properties. give it a tool tip name like "Green 5sp". (It's green and 5sp thick when placed in the score.)
You can change the thickness in the Properties panel to save variants under different names.
If you have a MuseScore 3 file with different colored highlights, you can open in MuseScore 4 and save them to a palette.
See:
https://handbook.musescore.org/customization/palettes#adding-elements-f…
When using the highlights, add the highlight after notes are entered.
--OR--
If you select the highlight and, in the Appearance tab of the Properties panel, click the 'Backwards' button (under 'Arrange') 5 or 6 times until the notes, staff and barlines move on top. Then you can edit notes without having to move the highlight out of the way.
You can experiment with the file I attached above.

Thanks a lot for your help. I followed your workaround idea and it worked:
- I just re-installed the last available MuseScore 3 (3.6.2.):
- there I put together a little transparent Highlight Palette;
- I saved it in MuseScore 3 than opened it in MuseScore 4;
- Finally just as you suggested, I saved these "transparent lines" in a new Palette dedicated to these highlights.
Again, million thanks for your help, have a great day, you sure saved mine :)
(I do hope though that at some point someone will put back the missing "Alpha Channel" field)
