Contemporary notation, pre-recorded tape, vertical lines, grid, spacing

• Apr 26, 2025 - 22:11

Hello, everyone. I'm working on a piece for two instruments and a pre-recorded tape. I need to put the photo of the tape into the sheet music as well and conect the instrument parts to it to illustrate at which times should individual notes sound. (Connect the noteheads to the tape with vertical lines) Since I didn't find vertical lines, I'm playing with stems and It looks to work pretty fine, but everytime I try to add a new note and align its stem to the tape it usually moves the existing ones as well. Is there a way to somehow "lock in space" the notes so they won't be affected by further changes? Or how would you approach this task in general? I'll be thankful for any ideas.

Click on a note/rest. Then, from the Lines palette, click the Line tool. This places a short horizontal line with two "handles" over the note. Click one of the handles and drag it up/down/left/right as you wish. As the score is changed, the line will stay attached to the note.

There is some likelihood that you may need to adjust its "point of aim", i.e. the end that points away from the note. Wait until you have the entire piece entered before you do that.
