allow tied notes
A lot of music uses note ties. Adding a feature to allow this in playback would be nice.

MuseScore supports ties if you input them as tie and not slur .

+1 for ties (not just the slur)
The only way I can get the tie to work with the slur is to press + on the first note, if I drag the slur from the menu it does nothing for playback.

Ties are different to slurs in both function and appearance, and the procedure for creating each respective symbol is different.
See Slur and Tie in the Handbook.
Playback of tied notes is already correct (i.e., they play as though held for the combined duration).

OK, so you can't drag ties from the pallet? That must be what was confusing me, I was assuming they were the same thing because I thought everything was in the pallet. Thanks for the clarification.

Think of the palette as being for things that are other than the actual pitch and duration of notes. Pitch and duration are the basics of notes, and they aren't entered using the palette but using Note Entry mode.
Well, accidentals are a special case. Normal accidentals that affect pitch are not entered using the palette, but "courtesy" accidentals as well as microtonal accientals. And the palette doesn't forbid you from using a courtesy accidental in place of a regular accidental.

See also the section on Note Entry in the handbook, and the video tutorials that appear in the MuseScore Connect pane when you start MuseScore 1.1. Indeed, ties and slurs are different, and "+" is the correct way to create a tie.
