This is unfortunatley true on some keybaords where Shift+"." is the same physical key as ">", the shortcut for diminuendo. For now, you need to redefine one (or both) of these, as the same physical key obviously can't do two different things. See #34306: Default keyboard shortcuts for staccato and decrescendo cause neither to work.
it would be nice to have a plan for dealing with this, as I think this keyboard arrangement is probably pretty common.
