Percussion notation in 2.0 beta

I'm embarrassed, as this should be so simple. But I _cannot_ figure out how to enter notation for pitch-less percussion instruments. Yes, I've read all of this:

... The drum palette appears, and allows me to 'Edit Drumset', but it's all downhill (with no result) from there. I cannot drag anything to the score.

Note that I'm using the 2.0 Beta on Win 7.

Yes, I'm probably missing something, but what?
