Marching percussion in Musescore 2.0
Is there something specific I need to do to make the marching percussion in Musescore 2 sound? I just downloaded the program with no sound files with it, jist the default it came with. Other percussion are working fine with the program, just not the marching percussion.

Could you be more specific? Please post a sample score and precise steps to reproduce the problem. And say which of the various experimental prerelease builds of 2.0 you are talking about (Help / About), and which soundfont you are using (View / Synthesizer).

I am using the default FluidR3Mono_GM.f3 that came with the Musescore 2 beta 2 program. As for precise steps I created a new score, selected 'All Instruments' then the 'Marching Percussion' tabs. I was trying to arrange a cadence so I used 2 snare parts, a quad part and a bass drum part. I set the tempo to 150 and had 75 measures in the score, after that I tried to use the basic battery snare note in a quarter note. After that I started clicking different kinds of notes everywhere on all of the instruments to try to get a sound out.
Have you downloaded the Marching Percussion Soundfont?
It will not sound unless you have as it is not part of the FLuidR3Mono default.
Download details are in the SoundFont forum.......

Is there a specific file I have to download to add to the FluidR3Mono soundFont?

I found that making your own score is a bit easier. The way I set up a battery score is to select my own instruments, Snare, Roto Toms(x2), and a cymbal of your choice it really doesn't matter. Rename the Roto Tom parts to Bass Drums, and Tenor drums. Then under the clef option in the pallet select the bass clef with the 8 under it and assign the bass clef to the Bass Drum part you created. Then the Bass Drum part will have a deeper tone. The notes will show up orange but when you print out the music they are printed in black so it doesn't really matter. As for the cymbal parts, for different sounds just edit a drum set part and add more cymbals its really up to the composer.

This works fairly well, to be perfectly honest, yet it isn't the same as marching percussion. In all truthfulness, I have no recollection of posting this thread. Thank you so much though, I'll possibly use these if I do any explicit marching arrangements where it would be inappropriate to use a drum set (Like I have been for quite some time now.)
Just thought you all would like to know that Marching Percussion drumsets will be included in the default soundfont from MuseScore 2.0.3 onward.

That's great, do you have an idea of when 2.0.3 will be available by any chance?

Well all I can say is that translations have to be in by March 25th.
So - soon after that.
How soon will depend on whether any problems emerge.

Hello there fellas. Im using musescore for several weeks now. I just want to ask anyone about v2.0.3. I made a drumline score using mike schorsch marching percussion soundfonts. When I am using the software, it plays well. But when I tried exporting it into a WAV file the drums aren't playing the soundfont of mike. Need help. Thanks.

If you're using 2.0.3, you don't need any extra SoundFonts. Clear out the Synthesizer so you have only the default SoundFont, and everything should work. You might find this blank template helpful: https://musescore.com/user/607771/scores/1988301

What is the download link for the original soundfont/what is the name of the default soundfont?

FluidR3Mono, which there is no need to download—it should be available in the Synthesizer automatically.
