Option to make italics or bold stick when inputting lyrics

(from a previous post)
Currently when entering lyrics that are in italics or boldface, the formatting disappears when going to the next word or syllable. Can you make this stick?

Note that depending on what you are trying to do, an easier and more effective method might be to apply the bold *after* entering the syllables, using Text Properties. Except that this doens't work for a multiple selection. So instead, I guess a custom text style might be a way to go.

Wow, that's even more time-comsuming than what's already available...

Many times I have some lyric lines which are in italic (for their own reason), and if I have multiple syllables, I have to choose Italic for every one of those syllables and it slows down the process, unnecessarily IMO.

Now the cleanest workaround is to have MS insert the syllables automatically by creating a lyric sheet with all the syllables separated and hyphenated where the user wanted (didn't MS used to do that?). From there I can use simple text editing to put the particular syllables in question in italic (or bold or larger font, whatever), and MS can assign the formatted text to the sequence of notes on that staff.

Otherwise, entering a syllable retains the formatting of the previous syllable until explicitly changed.

Hmm, if you have an entire line of lyrics in italics, then custom style seems the no-brainer way to go for me. it's not time consuming at all - you'd create the custom style once per score, or if you do this a lot, once then save the style and just re-use it. And once the style is created, apoplying it to an entire line of lyriucs - even 50 lages worth at once - takes only seconds.

Not sure what you mean about "creating a lyric sheet", but you can enter you lyrics into a a text editor and copy and paste them into your in 2.0 just as was possible in 1.3 - but it works much better in 2l0. Hyphens and extenders were not handled correctly in 1.3, but they are in 2.0. Just select your text, start lyric mode, and press Ctrl_V to enter the lyrics one syllable at a time. Of course, if you miss a hyphen or underscore, you may need to abort and restart.

The problem with respect to entering lyrics into a text editor and copying is that style information is not preserved. A common need for singing in foreign languages is to have text that indicates stressed syllables, either by use of boldface or underlining. So I need a way to copy a line of lyrics with some syllables in boldface and others not. Being able to do this by copying from a formatted text editor file is important for me, as the lyrics often come from such a file that someone else has created (with stressed syllables already indicated).
