MuseScore.exe has stopped working
I downloaded MuseScore-2.0.1 as soon as it was released. I use MuseScore as a practice tool for working out passages in music I am having difficulty. I am constantly using the playback and the metronome feature. This worked great for a week or two. Now, every time I try to run MuseScore I get the "MuseScore.exe has stopped working" dialog box. I have removed and reinstalled MuseScore a couple of times, to no avail. R.93d1b48 Nightly Build of MuseScore was downloaded and installed. The Nightly Build ran with no problem as far as working goes. For some reason the play back function and note sound does not work in this build. I am running Windows 8.1, 64bit operating system. Is there a reason MuseScore-2.0.1 would unconditionally stop working?

Have you tried a factory reset?

Prior to reading your reply, I uninstalled MuseScore 2.0.1 and reinstalled one more time. After going through the uninstall/reinstall routine 3 or four times - this time MuseScore started working. The only change I make is to preferences defining shortcuts "sharp, natural, flat" under the respective keys "\,],[". Also, previously I tried the -F to reset to factory settings and could not get this to work. At any rate, for whatever reason, MuseScore is up and running. Thanks for your response.
I have reproduced this behaviour. If no audio device is available (e.g. speakers disabled) then musescore 2.01 will not start up (b25f81d). Troubleshooting the audio installation (speaker icon on taskbar - right click) solved the problem for me.

Should have been fixed in a recent nightly build
