Save MIDI files by default
Hi!
Is it possible to instruct MuseScore to save MIDI files (.mid) by default?
I am trying to use MuseScore as an external editor and it is a hassle to always select "save as" to save a ".mid" file, and then click to discard changes when I close the program. Another alternative would be for MuseScore to monitor if the MIDI file changed in the folder and then to reload it automatically, but I guess that would be more difficult.
Regards.

File > Save a Copy remembers your previous file format choice. You can set a keyboard shortcut for "File save a copy" via Edit > Preferences > Shortcuts.
MIDI is not well suited for saving music notation (see [[nodetitle:Export]] for an explanation) so MuseScore defaults to its own format for a normal save.
If you are a programmer you might want to take a look at the MuseScore command line options

Except if I'm wrong , the previous file format choice is not remembered in MuseScore 0.9.6.
