step time entry with midi keyboard.
06/29/10
I am using version 0.9.5 on a Windows XP professional computer. This is my first time using musescore and I am a beginning music student.
How do you get this program to enter the actual note and rest values when I play a song (real-time or step-time entry or whatever is the correct terminology). All it will do is enter all the notes in the same value, whatever was selected from the note bar list. I watched the video, but it was not clear in it's explanation.
Thanks.

There is no real time entry in MuseScore. See the MIDI keyboard section in Note entry .
Normally, you select a duration with your numeric pad on your computer keyboard and you enter the pitch with your MIDI keyboard.

Does anyone know of a simple program that accepts midi keyboard real time-note entry. I am a beginning music student who just wants to write simple melodies for starters.

You can use any midi sequencer to record a MIDI keyboard. Some midi keyboard have a recorder embedded.
But be aware that you'll not end up with notation but a midi file i.e. a suite of timed events note on and note off. You can try to open the midi file with MuseScore and MuseScore will do its best to make a score out of it.
