Adding space above lyrics in one system only
I have an standard SATB score with the words entered below each voice – separate stave for each voice in a system. However, in one or two systems the Alto lyrics are too close to the Alto staff above. I don't want to alter the global lyric spacing as that is fine for most of the score but I just want to customise the spacing above the Alto lyric in the problem systems. How is it done?

First select the lyrics in that staff (eg, right click one, Select / More / Same system, or select range then right click a lyric and Select / All similar elements in range selection, or shift+drag select if that happens to be convenient, or even just ctrl+click individually. Then adjust vertical position with Inspector.
I settled on right-clicking the first word in the line, then selecting "select" > "more," then ticking the "same stave" and "same system" boxes. Then used "vertical offset" in the Inspector to move the lyric line into position.
