Can't add/delete instrument to existing score
I open the score, select Edit, Instruments then Musescore hangs. Can do nothing and have to use Task Manager to shut it down. When I select End Task in task manager it says it's can't shut down because it's waiting for a response. I can't find any pop-up.
My workaround for now is to create a brand new score with the new instrument and copy/paste from the original but that is a bit of a pain.
I'm probably missing something obvious so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That's weird. Is it possible that the Instruments dialog is somehow positioned off the edge of your screen? One thing that would fix that (but would also delete any changes you made to MuseScore's settings) is to Revert to factory settings .

That's what it was. The last time I used the app I had 2 monitors going. I guess it's kind of a bug as it doesn't recognize that this time I'm using one monitor. Plugged the other monitor in a there it was. lol
I knew it was going to be a simple thing.

Glad you figured it out. ;-)
Well-intuited CardShark. It's been a while since I used Windows but there are, as I recall, ways of getting rogue windows back on-screen without resorting to a reset of the whole program. [Alt][Tab] cycles through windows and [Alt][Spacebar] selects the menu and then you can hit C to close it (and hope it opens in a more sensible place) or M to move it and then use the arrow keys to try to drag it back into view (a bit of trial and error required).
