need help understanding strange piano notation and entering in musescore
I'm trying to enter the attached oboe/piano score.
But I don't understand the piano notation at measures 8 and 9.
Could someone explain to me what there are already 4 counts in each measure, and
then there are two 8th notes which span the G and F clefs.
There is also a funny change of dynamics.
My instinct is that the pp only applies to the 8th notes spanning the clefs, and not to the
other notes.
Would someone be so kind as to explain what these measure mean? Which notes are on which counts, with with dynamics, and on which (musescore) voice? Also how can I enter 8th notes like this which span the staffs?
It would be really great if someone would enter the two measures in musescore, and
send me the file.

I found the following link. Is this what I want as far as the mechanism for entering the notes?
It's close to what I want, but I don't quite understand.

An example, if it can be useful

Thanks for the insightful comments. The flow seems to be to enter the notes in the current clef, with lots of ledger lines. Then select them and press shift-cmd-downarrow. I guess cmd is probably cntl on the PC?

Great, here is what I get with the new insight.
In measure 9 and 10 there is not only staff-crossing of the beams but implicit voicing. The quavers are in a second voice. One is supposed to let the minim chord sound (with the help of pedal ?) while playing the quavers.
Noting voices is explained in the manual.

I'll take your word for it—to me it just looks like the beats consecutively don't add up.

Indeed, it is poorly notated. There should be explicit leading rests for the voice containing those eighth notes on beat 4, so you can see that it does indeed come in on beat 4 and is not an extra beat. The context makes this clear, I gues,s but it's definitely wrong.
