midi computer hook up
I am new to musescore ( and love it ) and I am looking for a simple keyboard to hook up to my computer. Will a midi to usb cable work with this software?

I use an Edirol UM1-X midi to USB cable to hook up my keyboard or my vDrum and it works ok (Windows, Mac, Linux)

Thanks for the response. Is the usb cable your using just a straight midi to usb or is there a converter of some sort entwined with it?

You should have got a cable with your keyboard. I have Roland EDIROL-PCR-500 and it came with a
special USB cable which plugs into a smaller USB port on the side of the keyboard, not to the
MIDI OUT connector. I had to install USB drivers on my Windows computer in order to communicate
with the controller.
I know there are MIDI to USB converter cables but these are specialist devices,
but shouldnt be necessary.

Mine is not a straight cable. It has two din plugs on one side and an USB plug on the other side. In the middle there is a conversion box. See the image
