Keys of Horns

• Dec 22, 2010 - 17:21

Some horns don't have a key written next to them.

It can be safely assumed that a trombone is in Bb and the Horn is in F, but it would be nice if it was written out.

Noticed by Davva.

Thanks

Trombone is not a transposing instrument (they read concert pitch). I very rarely see it written as "Bb trombone" even though it technically is.

It doesn't have to be noted on the score, but I think it should be noted on the score creation wizard. And the instrument editing list, especially if they come in other keys as well, like the trombone.

Also, sometimes trombone is not written in concert pitch, such as when in a brass band. That's a more complicated issue though...
