Transpose question
Hi team,
I imported an .xml file from Sibelius. The score is in Db. I want to transpose it to C. When I do, the score remains in Db. I have successfully transposed Sibelius scores before. Why won't this one move? I enclosed a screen shot of my Transpose options. Thanks.

Hard to say without seening the score (mscz) and (or at least) the xml
A wild guess - maybe there is an invisible staff above the one we can see in the picture, and that staff is already in C.

If that's possible, Marc, how do I render the staff visible? I tried Ctrl+I. At any rate, I attached both files. Many thanks!

Transposes just fine here, see attached.
It doesn't transpose the chord symbols though, those seem to have been imported as staff text rather than as chord symbols

If there was an invisible staff, you'd see it in the list at Edit / Instruments (shortcut "I", not Ctrl+I). There are no other staves, though.
ANyhow, the transposition works as expected for me as well. Be sure you select all first, or select nothing (which will select all for you) - if the key signature isn't selected, it won't be detected or transposed. But the following sequence works fine for me in both 2.0.2 and a current development build:
1) load score
2) press Esc to make sure nothing is selected (or Ctrl+A to select all)
3) Notes / Transpose
4) change the key from Db to C in the dropdown menu, leaving all other settings alone
5) OK
As mentioned, the score transposes just fine, except for the "chord symbols" which are not actual chord symbols but plain staff text.

Okay...thanks guys.
The score transposes for me too whether I use Ctrl+A or just the Transpose command from the Notes list. I didn't even look at the notes or key signature. I was wanting the chords to change too and that's where my focus was.
When I transpose my own charts, the chords change too. When I do my charts, each bar is a whole rest, and I just add the chords using Ctrl+K. That seems to be the difference because I added a chord to this score using Ctrl+K, transposed it, and my chord changed.
Funny, I received other charts from this guy, and they transposed fine. I suspect he may have bought this chart. It's starting to look like it wasn't done in Sibelius or Musescore. Thanks again for the help!

According to the info toward the top of the MusicXML file, it was created using Sibelius 7.5.1, direct export, not from the Dolet plugin. However, there are no "harmony" elements - the MusicXML representation of a chord symbol - the chord symbol information is enclosed in "direction" elements. I know Sibelius is perfectly capable of exporting chord symbols correctly (as "harmony" elements), so I'm guess that the person who created the file simply did not do it correctly. They probably used the Sibelius version of staff text to enter the chords, rather than using actual chord symbols.

Thanks for that comment, Marc. I received a message back from Terry (the fellow who created the score in Sibelius), and he said as much. I will forward your words of wisdom to him. Rest assured, he will appreciate the information too :)! Best...
