That seems as good a way as any. Alternatively, you can select lyrics, change the text style and apply a frame with a coloured background but this is maybe a bit more time-consuming.

The original question was "highlight staves" as the words in a word processor. Something like a background:
(and my doubt that there was already a feature that I do not know)
I would like to help newbies like myself enlarging their part, like in this example, and maybe colouring the score like in the former example.

Right click on a measure: Stave properties> tick "Small stave"
