my displayed score sounds different than the one on my computer

Hi,
I wrote a piece using MuseScore 1.0 and upload it into the MuseScore website. When I play it on the website it sounds completely different.
Is it due to a different sound font being used or is it because I am using the old version of MuseScore.

Is there any solution besides editing the piece again in MuseScore 2?

Your guesses are correct. The website player generates its own audio using the default SoundFont for MuseScore 2, which is also different from MuseScore 1's default.
