Curious import from Symphony Pro MusicXML
This problem might well not lie in MuseScore. I am using MuseScoer 0.9.6.3 on a Mac OS X 10.6.6.
I started a tune in Symphony Pro on my iPad and exported it as Music XML. When I then imported it to MuseScore the notes that should have been sharp or flat according to the key signature or accidental were all played as naturals. MuseScore did pick up the key signature correctly.
I've attached three files:
AASB_13754.xml
is as exported by Symphony Pro.AASB_wrong.xml
is AASB_1375.xml
re-exported by MuseScore.AASB_right.xml
is the corrected tune exported from MuseScore.
The differences between the files seem to be the use of <alter>
and <accidental>
tags. I do not know which is the correct use and how MuseScore should have interpreted the original. It looks as though Symphony Pro expects notes modified by a key signature to be acknowledged, but MuseScore marks every individual note to make them play correctly.
If it is thought that MuseScore is acting properly then I will report this back to Xenon Labs.

Of course, the free software is the one to blame ;)
I opened
AASB_13754.xml
with Finale 2009 and the result is attached. Finale is considered to be the most precise MusicXML reader/writer.Maybe I was not clear. Find attached a PDF and a MusicXML file made by FInale.
alter
is required even with the key signature.Thank you. I suspected Symphony Pro would be to blame. I'll report it to them.
Since it's not a bug in MuseScore but in this other commercial software, I close this bug. Please let it closed except if it's an actual bug.
