Position playing
The addition of linked staves for stringed instruments and tablature is great. Since I enter my guitar music using standard notation primarily, this linking is especially good for me. However, it would be even better if I could specify a 'position' (fretboard range) that Musescore would use when it converts my notation to tablature. For example, when I enter the note 'G4' on the treble staff', it places a notation for an open third string in the tablature staff. If I could specify the position as 'V', it would indicate the fifth fret on the fourth string instead. This would save me the trouble of having to make the change myself. Of course this is not a big issue for one or two notes, but if you need to do it for a whole page of 32nd notes it becomes quite time consuming. I know I can simplify this a bit by selecting all the 'g4's in a range and applying the change to them all at once, but that isn't much faster, or even necessarily more accurate. So, if it can be done, adding this feature would be wonderful.
By the way, Kudos to Marc et al. for the excellent book. I've discovered a great many new things about this great software, and been reminded of more than few things I'd forgotten.

Thanks, cadiz, for your helpful links. I was aware of using ctrl+up/down arrows to shift the strings used for single notes, and also for selected ranges. It just seemed like it would be nice to have a way to set this up automatically, like someone remarked Lilypond can do. In the meantime, it's not totally burdensome to use the methods outlined in the links you provided.
