Files Not Opening Consistently

• Feb 8, 2011 - 17:20

I'm sharing Musescore files with my choir through a private Yahoo group. For over a year things have worked well. However, several new folk have indicated that they cannot open files; they get the "bad file descriptor" error message. I've been posting the compressed zip files on the group page. Others report that some files open correctly, while others don't (same error message), even though they're all the same compressed zip files type. I've told them to download 0.9.6.3 and use Mozilla or Google as their browser, not Internet Explorer. What solutions do you suggest?

Have you tried logging on to the yahoo group and downloading your own files? If the download is corrupt it won't open correctly. If you attached the backup .mscz, file (with the comma on the end) instead of the actual .mscz file then it won't open in MuseScore.

These are only guesses, of course it is impossible to tell what problem you are having without seeing the files you are having a problem with.

Ask the people that are having trouble, which file specifically they tried opening. Then attach that file here so we can see.

I have deleted and reloaded the files, being sure that they were the actual .mscz file (zipped), not the backup files. I'm able open all of them without a problem, so the files are not corrupt. Those who are now using Firefox as the browser are telling me they can open the files, so I'm assuming it's the interface with Internet Explorer that's the problem.

Also, one singer tells me she can download the files, but only every other word of the text is appearing, and only every other note plays when she uses the playback feature.

Attached are some samples...
