Playback window does not appear with F11
Hi team,
I have a score with notes and lyrics and want to play the score back using the internal Musescore instruments. The manual says press F11, but the playback dialog box doesn't open. Marc wrote that I could perform a factory reset, but I don't want to do that--only as a last resort. He recommended posting the problem first. So, here I am :).
I'm running Windows 7 Pro (64-bit), Quad core. My sound interface is a Steinberg UR44. It works perfectly well in Cubase 8 Pro with a Yamaha Tyros 5 and MOX8 synth. Many thanks...GREAT PROGRAM!!

Not even from the "View" menu? Perhaps it is offscreen.

Hi Shoichi,
Thanks for chiming in. I reduced the four page score to 25 percent and I couldn't see anything. Here's a screen shot. As you can see, Musescore says it's open, but where?

It is almost certain off screen. Either you inadvertently dragged it off screen, or perhaps you at one time had a different monitor or different resolution, and the position it was in on that other display configuration no longer exists. Either way, the "Revert" instructions would fix it. I guess you don't want to do that because you have customized a lot of shortcuts or other things? In that case, you can try to find the file containing the settings and edit it by hand. The location varies by OS though. For Windows 7, it's probably somewhere under C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\MuseScore2 or something like that. Probably a ".INI" file, openable in any text editor.

Looking at your screenshot, I see you have hidden the 'Transport Tools' (used for play back). To bring those back, right click on an empty spot on the toolbar (e.g. next to the camera icon), and then click the 'Transport Tools' box.
Regards.
Actually, though, let's ask a simpler question. You say you want to play the score - are you thinking you need the Play Panel for that? You don't. Just hit the Space bar. Or the Play button on the main toolbar. The Play Panel is really only needed for some special purpose things like temporarily hearing the score slower or faster than the notated tempo.

Hi everyone,
Marc--I displayed the Transport bar, however, as you can see three of the buttons are unavailable (grayed). I must have something configured incorrectly.
I also found the .ini file. It's under C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\MuseScore2. Under playPanel, the co-ordinates are 2661 260. Does that sound right? Yes, I am using two monitors. Many thanks.

Those Play Buttons are getting greyed out, if MuseScore doesn't detect a Sound system.
I think a factory reset might solve this as well as the Play pannel being somewhere off Screen.

Hi team,
I decided on the Reset feature and all's well! Many thanks for the help. Best...
