Using auto-tie to add notes to chord tied across barline via replaces rather than adds
Musescore 2.0.2, Arch Linux x64.
Reproduce bug:
Use the mouse to insert notes on the treble clef.
1. Create Electric guitar staff and a linked Electric guitar [tablature] staff (6 string simple)
2. Add A2 dotted quarter note
3. Add E3 dotted quarter note
= A5 power chord.
Next, after A5 power chord...
4. Add Ab2 dotted quarter note
5. Add Eb3 dotted quarter note
= Ab5 power chord
Next, after Ab5 power chord...
6. Add G2 dotted quarter note
5. Add D3 dotted quarter note......
Now you should see the problem! G2 disappears.
Video demonstrating the problem.

I just typed:
N, A, Shift+E, A, down, Shift+E, down, G, Shift+D
and ended up with those 3 chords.
What are you doing differently?
I used the mouse to click in the notes, not the keyboard.
I use dotted quarter notes and not quarter notes alone.
Does work the same with mouse too
You are transcribing one octave above the described.
So N, , ., A, Ctrl+down, Shift+E, A, down, Shift+E, down, G, Shift+D
OK, I see what you mean, the last chord crosses a barline and the D only shows up in the 2nd measure
Confirmed.
1) Load this file: Guitar + Tablature template: test.mscz
2) "N": with the mouse in the standard staff: Add a quarter note to the G, eg a C (or add an open string (0) in the Tab staff:
Result: the G disappears
EDIT: crosses barline... and comments!
The issue is specific to tied chords, and does not require linked staves to reproduce.
1) My First Score
2) Note input
3) Select breve / double whole note duration (8)
4) Click "C" on staff in measure 1 to enter two tied whole notes
5) click "G" above staff in measure 1 to attempt to add to the existing chord
Result: the tied chord is replaced. You can still add G's to the two C's individually (by changing the selected duration to whole note first) and then tied them normally, but trying to use the auto-tie feature will replace the existing chord.
This seems related to, and perhaps has same cause as, #58246: Entering chords that cross a measure via MIDI does not tie entire chord. But I'll leave this open rather than close as a duplicate in case it does turn out to need a separate fix.

Finally. Puuh. Thanks.
I do hope you understand why I might have sounded bitter on IRC when you now realize how simple it was to replicate. I appreciate your work and I have donated but trying to explain felt like a b*tch if I am going to use bad language.
Problem was that you left out a vital part of the information to reproduce: the 3rd dotted quarter chord in a 4/4 measure
Hmm, it doesn't really replace, but just leaves it out
Why "minor" priority? At least unexpected and sounds as a bug, right?
Probably because it potentialy is a duplicate?
A new score without any modification creates a 4/4 times signature and I did describe that I was using dotted quarter notes and I also described all the power chords (A5, Ab5 and G5).
On my computer it replaces. I tried it again to confirm.
Ah, yes, now I see that you mentioned dotted quarters, sorry
I won't quibble minor/normal, but to me, it's minor because it's a rather unusual thing to try in the first place, and the usual method of entering these notes works as expected. Which is to say, it doesn't prevent you from entering tied chords or even make it unusually difficult. There just happens to be one special case shortcut (the auto-tie over the barline) that doesn't support chords. So you have to use the normal tying methods, not the auto-tie facility, when tying chords. And of course the auto-tie method only works across barlines anyhow so you pretty much need the normal tying method much of the time anyhow. But fine, I'll call it "normal".
BTW, following my steps replaces; probably different specific steps produces slightly different results. Also, 2.0.2 behavior likely differs from 2.0.3/master because the tying functionality has been improved since 2.0.2. It used to not be possible to go back and add ties to existing notes in note input mode; as of 2.0.3 it is now possible, just cursor back and press the tie button.
For info, I notice the same result as far as I can go in the time (May 2014)
It's arguable if this is a bug or not...
Why would you expect something different when you add a half note to two tied quarters in a measure or over a barline?
What if the tied notes over the barline are not alone in the chord? What would you expect if you add a C half note in this configuration? Tie ? replace all?
Came up again in https://musescore.org/en/node/186576
came up again in #280302: Adding another note to an existing chord tied accross barline erases previous note(s)

The bug report is still active and I wonder why. Is there current way of working acceptable to most or does the Musescore team after three years still work on this issue?
As mentioned, it's debatable as to whether this is a bug - depending on what you are trying to do, it might be what you want or it might not. The normal way of working with MuseScore is to build the chord first then add the tie, so this doesn't come up very often. But we also added a new command "Alt++" (add tied note to chord) for the cases where you do want to do what I think you are wanting to do.
