I can't reproduce. Which build?
Opening which palette(s) causes the added text item to disappear?
Can you attach screen shots?
OS: Windows , Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (32-bit): 2.2.0, revision: 782b2c9
But not with 2.1, so it is a regression?
It is the same in 2.1 but not in 3.0

I can't reproduce this on Windows 10 with the same build. Once thing I cannot do on my system is make the palettes box narrow enough to show the palette only 2 breaks & spacers wide.

Ha, you are right. If I reduce the palette to its minimum width, then the content of the palettes Lines, Repeats and Text disappears.
When I open a second palette, then the scroll bar get visible. This is the same effect as minimizing the palettes width.

I see. I changed the display so the scroll bar appeared on mine also, with no problems. Sounds like it might be OS specific dealing with the appearance of the scroll bars.
I'm curious if it is necessary to add text to your dialog. Does it happen anytime you go from no scroll bar showing to scrollbars showing.

It is not the scroll bar per se. The scroll bar just helps to get the palette narrow enough to get the effect.
With the standard palettes Basic and Advanced, I don't get the effect. It is only with custom palettes. But then also if they are NOT customized.
