Weird Sound Fonts for Marching Band Score
I am importing MXL files to Musescore that were previously Sibelius files. The past two MXL files I uploaded did really well with woodwinds, but brass and non-pitched percussion made piano sounds. I fixed this by copying the brass and non-pitched percussion parts, deleting the instruments from the score, adding the instruments back in, then pasting the notes in. For some reason though, I tried doing this with the 3rd part of the show and am getting weird patches like piano for flute, strings for clarinets and tubular bells for tuba. Bells, xylophone and marimba are OK. I know something is messed up with the sound fonts because when I go to the mixer, the sound reads what the instrument is listed as in the score. The sound is not right, though. I might also mention that the Sibelius files had some weird sound fonts too. The battery came out as a woodblock ensemble. Please help!

Try creating a new score, with all the same instruments, and then copy and paste each part individually, that might work.

Yes! That worked. The battery notation is still messed up, but I am getting the correct sounds now. I will just adjust the battery notes to where they need to be on their given staff. Thank you, sir!

No problem! Also, I looked at the piece, the battery is a little on the easy side, but the rest of it is great!

Yes! There is a lot of good things going on in this scene. It is the 3rd scene of 4 total. I am actually rewriting the percussion parts. Our composer just includes them for free. There are amazing percussion sound fonts with Musescore Drumline. Love it! :-)
