Squishing notes together
Is it possible to bring certain notes in a score closer together or even clipping them into each other, while the overall notehead distance specified under Format->Styles is otherwise preserved? I tried disabling auto-placement for those notes and using horizontal displacement, but moving notes always changes the size of the measure.

Which type of notation are you trying to (re)create? Can you share an example?
Perhaps there is a better way to achieve it than trying to superimpose notes.
I too would like to see the real-world use case for this. But I would suggest if you reduce e the minimum note distance to 0 in Format / Style / Measure, you can get this effect, and it actually won't adversely affect the rest of your score if you don't mind managing the system breaks yourself.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am trying to bring the stems of fast groups of notes in a space notation very close together, while hiding the note heads... if I manage something, I will upload it.
