Make ties and lines end at the barline when followed by a horizontal frame
Please make ties and lines before horizontal frames (on the same system) behave as if they're crossing a system, by default.
Meaning "a tie stops short of the last barline of a system. At the start of a new system the tie begins after the clef, key signature and time signature." (Behind Bars, p.65) Currently, these elements stretch all the way across the empty space (and the time sig, key sig, and clef).

It's an interesting suggestion, and I could imagine there being cases where this might be useful, but can you give a real world example? I'm suspecting it's probably easier to get the desired effect another way, but without understanding more about the actual context, it's hard to say.

For one thing, it'd be nice for anybody that just wants to use a frame at the end of a system. This is from a score I'm editing and I wanted this system in particular to have wider margins so I added frames on either side. (MS 3.6 score w frame.jpg)
Another use would be for creating examples or worksheets. Like these examples from Behind bars. (Behind Bars pg.112.png)
If anything this could be a toggleable style setting in case anyone does want the current behavior.

Ah, yes, a frame at the end of the system certainly makes the use case clearer. If, still I'm a bit unsure why you'd want one system shorter than others. But in any case, it really is the end of the system, just an end that comes earlier than usual. So as far as I'm concerned there wouldn't even need to be an option for this, we should just consider changing the default, probably a pretty simple thing. Can you submit an official Suggestion to the issue tracker for this?
For creating examples, well, OK, but those are really not continued at all, those are one sided. Supporting one0-sided ties and slurs does also make sense but seems rather a separate thing.

I use that invisible grace notes trick often. It's pretty handy!
