Dragging drum voices with Piano Roll
Hi everyone,
An extension to a previous post.
I want to change for example all the ride cymbal notes to Hihat notes by dragging in the piano roll. Unfortunately Musescore changes the note values as I do this.
Here's a link to a short 4sec video to show this.

Is there a way to stop Musescore doing this?
Thanks

No Idea what previous post you might be refering to...
Use "Edit Drumset" instead, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/drum-notation#edit-drumset

Thanks, Yeah okay, it kind of works, they're still ride cymbal notes though just in a different place on the stave and if you did want ride cymbal notes as well in the same piece..... well I suppose you could use Ride cymbal 2 and then alter the position of that one, but we're getting very messy now. And then I've got to remember to 'edit' it back again before I start another new file.
I just want to drag all the ride cymbal notes to hihat notes, Musescore dosen't allow drum voices to be dragged on the stave (I'm hoping it will be implemented sometime in the future as per my previous posts on this, here by the way if you're interested https://musescore.org/en/node/314849)
I thought the piano roll would do it but as per my video it changed the note values.

You mean #314851: changing drum voices position on stave by dragging?
Anyway, the pianoroll (or drumroll) editor is the wrong too for this

I meant the one I linked to, I think the link you've put is in the 'feature request' section?

Yes, the Issue Tracker actually (which is for tracking Bugs and Feature requests)

I think that title is wrong - it should be 'changing position of drum notes /voices by dragging' and then maybe the heads change depending on the position on the stave (can't remember what Sibelius does without checking)

It is your issue, just go and fix it.

Which is not for drum staves

Why should it not be?, works fine in my DAW, (which also of course has a 'piano roll' type drum editor (drum roll editor), which you can switch to).
The issue is the piano roll in Musescore changes the note values when you drag.

Seems to work okay if its not Tuplets

Just did an experiment - it does it with a normal Piano Voice as well.

Because it is (or should be) the Drumroll editor for drum staves... (the differences are probably not big or except for the title bar possibly don't exist at all)

There isn't a 'drumroll' editor in Musescore and the fact that it does it on a normal piano voice as well says that it's a bug in the program.

Hmm, I'm sure to have seen "Drumroll Editor" in the sources.
But it indeed isn't in (anymore)
That looks like a bass clef, so is not a drum staff?

yes you're right, I need to change the clef, its because it was imported from another program.

I'll add this to the 'Issue Tracker Section'

To change a non-percussion staff to a percussion staff, you don't change the clef, you change the actual instrument - this sets up everything else needed as well. Right-click the staff, Staff/Part Properties, Change Instrument, then select drumset or whatever.
