BSD - Blue Screen of Death - Windows 10
Hello,
my Musescore (newest 3.6.2.5) is crashing since today on every start attempt. Nothing changed on my W10-System. Just after complete deinstall and install: same Problem.
I get an APC_INDEX_MISMATCH Bluescreen, maybe caused by win32kfull.sys.
Just detached all USB-Hardware: same Problem.
Now i dont know, what to do.

Unlikely to be MuseScore's fault
But try reverting MuseScore to factory settings, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings#instruction… (reinstalling doesn't do that)

Try -s instead (no sound) to exclude the sound drivers

Thanks, tried the -s option too. Same result. Bluescreen after 3-4 seconds.

Tried the -R option in the meanwhile too. Same (bad) result.

Check for updated drivers

Hi Mr. Schmitz,
just found it, late in the evening:
https://www.borncity.com/blog/2021/03/10/windows-10-2004-20h2-update-kb…
The Problem was caused by a Microsoft Hotfix (kb5000802). After deinstalling this hotfix musescore is running without Problems.
Spend nearly a day searching for the reason. What a mess!
Thanks anyway. Learned something about how to trobleshoot deep musescore problems.

As I said early on, not likely MuseScore's fault

So what do us users need to do? I have no idea what this file is, where I would find it or how to delete it.

Now cured by reverting to factory settings. It looks like it was a Musescore fault after all - got itself all mixed up and confused. That Microsoft update didn't seem to have any effect.

This file is showing as 'pending update' in my system. What should I do?

Hi Bigbri5050,
If I can believe other forum posts from Windows 10 forums, the bluescreen error of this patch only occurs in conjunction with various print drivers, especially Kyocera drivers.
So it doesn't necessarily cause the error in your case.

Agreed. It doesn't do any good to jump to conclusions without checking the symptoms first. We may have more than one issue going on here. Anyway, my factory reset has sorted things out. Thanks.
