There is a "tool" called a plagiarism checker which students use
to know to what extent what they write is original.
Is there any such tool available for a composer to use?

Some years ago there was an app that would listen to music and tell you the name of the song.

That music has to be stored somewhere.
I played Jingle Bells on the keyboard and despite its popularity,
an app called "shazam" was not able to identify it.

Shazam looks for the digital ID of a recording, not a melody. So it would recognise Bing Crosby's recording of it but not your playing the tune.
