Standard notation to pause a little before the beginning of each measure
Hi,
I am playing a piece in 4/4 time signature. Just before the beginning of each measure the performer should slow down by about 20%. Because this piece is a very draw-out, ambience-like piece.
Is there a standard and efficient way to do this to the entire score, both in terms of playback and visual simplicity?
I only know the manual way which is to change the tempo, hide the tempo marking and add the "rit..." notation but that is very cumbersome to do...
Thanks!

If it's just on the last note of a measure, you could add a fermata on each of them, then after selecting them all adjust the time stretch value for it.
If it's an actual pause to be intended, add breath (comma) markings.

The fermata worked great for me! Thanks!
Just one thing, I can't select multiple adjacent fermatas and copy-pasting them somewhere else.
Selecting an individual fermata works though.

True about copy-paste (list selections don't retain relative time positions).
But you can select all the target positions first and then apply the fermata in one go?
Breath markings would be the most clear way to do this, I think, not fermatas or tempo changes. Clear to the performer, and easy to add and customize.
