Problem with repeats, dal segnos and voltas
Hello, I am currently in the process of making a piece in musescore, and I am having a problem with repeats, dal segnos, and voltas.
I would like it to play like this:
1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 ---> 5 --> 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 6
The closest I have been able to get is ordering it like this:
xxx |: xxxxxxxx s xxxxxxxxx d.s ac xxxxxxxxx (V1)xxx(V1) :| (V2)xxx(V2)
xxx 1 xxxxxxxx 2 xxxxxxxxx 3 xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 4xxx4 5 6xxx6
x = Notes
|: / 1 = Start Barlines
s / 2 = Segno
d.s ac / 3 = Del Segno Al Coda
(V1) / 4 = Volta 1
:| / 5 = End Barlines
(V2) / 6 = Volta 2
The problem is that it currently plays like this instead:
1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 5 --> 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 6
It skips the Del Segnos up until it repeats.
Any suggestions for how to make it play as desired, even if that means using different symbols? I'm sorry I couldn't just include the piece itself, I don't have permission to share this one. If this doesn't make any sense let me know and I can make and include a safe to share piece that replicates this problem.
Thanks!

On the "D.S. al Segno"'s Inspector tick the box 'Play repeats' (and maybe change it to "D.S. al Segno con rep.")

Whoah that looks like exactly what I need, thank you very much!

Sorry, could you explain where to find the D.S con rep? I can't seem to find it in repeats and jumps, and I can't find it in the inspector box. Sorry for the seemingly obvious question!

There is no "... con rep." you'd have to add this

What you add from the palette is the normal plain "D.S. al Coda".
Once it is added to your score, you can double click it into Text Edit mode to type whatever one wants/needs. In this case I've added a newline and the "con. rep." abbreviation so humans will know that you intend the repeats to be retaken after the jump. Because convention is to only play the "final" repeat after a Jump this should be mentioned explicitly to not confuse the humans.
Then you also have to use the Inspector (F8) with that jump instruction selected (not in text edit mode) and in there check the "play repeats" option. This is how you tell MuseScore (a non-human ;-) ) about the intent.

I turned "play repeats" on, and it helped a little bit! But, it's now playing everything but the second volta.
IE: 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 ---> 5 --> 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 5
I need it to play
1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 ---> 5 --> 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 2 --> 3 --> 4 --> 6 (second volta at the end instead of first)
I'm not sure what D.S. al Segno con rep is (sorry I'm new), do you know where I could find a tutorial on that? Thank you for the help!

The usuual interpretation of these jumps is to not take repeats, that's why 'Play repeauts'is off by default. If you want them, enable it, and also tell the musicians about it, by appending thet "con rep." (with repeats)

Take a look into the handbook and the external links at the bottom of the page.
