Why does the attached complete score repeat and how do I stop it from doing that?

I added another, right-clicked on it, select all similar, Del

But the mscx inside the mscz does have it:
No text: so not visible
I believe the score originally stems from MuseScore 1. For sure it is a pre 3.6 score.
Like this one, it does have a D.C at that place

Clever.
FWIW, now that you know it's there, another way to access these empty elements is by navigating using Alt+Left/Right. For example, select the first note of that last measure and press Alt+Left. It should go directly to the barline, but instead, check the status bar, and you'll see you've actually select a Jump, which you can then delete.
But knowing to look in the first place is mostly a matter of thinking, hmm, what could be causing this behavior, then poking around.
