"Add a symbol to a palette from the Master Palette:
If the Master Palette is not visible, select View → Master Palette from the menu, or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+F9 (Mac: fn+Shift+F9).
Drag the symbol from the Master Palette window onto a palette."

Or, much simpler - just click "More" in the bottom right of the palette, and you'll find anything you deleted, along with any other available symbols.

thank you - that doesn't work in my case, but the master palette solved the problem.

Are you sure you don’t see it under More? Can you show a screenshot?
It’s also possible the symbol isn’t deleted, just temporarily blanked out to a bug that occasionally strikes if you drag symbols to your score instead of just clicking them. If you see an empty space where it used to be, try just restarting MuseDcore. You definitely shouldn’t need to resort to the Master Palette.
