A Beta is expected soon
Next step is the the Beta1 (https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/projects/47), after it a Beta2 is planned AFAIK, so I think it still will take some time for the release.

No, I don't think there is an actual "beta 2" release planned. Pretty sure that's just the name given to issues that are planned to be fixed post-beta. I mean, if it turns out the beta itself has tons more new issues than anticipated, you never know. But I wouldn't be expecting that.
