Delete / Hide Time Signature / Write notation with "timeless signatures"
Hi all - I am trying to write out a rubato, coda / cadenza that doesn't play time nor has real time signature.
For instance, a phrase might require two beats of notation but it's not a 2 / 4 time signature.
What I want to do is remove the time signature.
Example:
The song is in 4/4 but in the coda, there is one phrase that takes approximately 2 beats - I want a 2/4 time signature but only as space in which to contain two beats - see first circle.
What I don't want: Is the numbers "2" and a "4" in front of this rubato phrase.
Ideally, I'd like to switch between any time signature in the world but with no numbers indicating them.
(If you see image, there is a 4/4 needed but again I don't want the numbers there because it's not playing time.)
So far I tried:
Deleting but that just sets the system back to its default time signature
Right-click -> Select Hide from the drop down all to no avail.
Any help welcomed
Thanks

Staff properties , untick Show time signature

Thank you - But that hides the time signature for the part of the song that has the time in it (i.e., the beginning of the tune) - Is there a way to delete/hide single instances of a time signature?

For most items in MuseScore, click on the item and press V to toggle visibility.

Ah, sweet! Worked for me this time.

Though if it's just for an irregular measure here and there I wouldn't enter time signatures and then turn them invisible at all. Just change the "Actual Duration" of the measure directly; either via the Measure Properties or by Ctrl/Cmd+Del (Tools > Remove Selected Range) the superfluous beats.

Thanks all - I can try the above if necessary - just to note: The following steps met my requirement:
1. Go to view > Inspector;
2. Highlight the time signatures you want to make invisible;
3. Element
3. Deselect "visible".
Another approach is to not change the time signature (or actual duration), but instead make a custom duplet out of the measure. But that only makes sense if the actual measure duration should remain equal.
