The velocity edits in 3.6.2 just won't follow as the same when opened in 4.0.0, and it ruined all my works. The only way to fix it seems to be editing the velocity of the notes one by one, which is a very exhausting work to be done.
FIX IT IMMEDIATELY.
I've chosen 2 of my works to upload onto MuseScore.org, both can be opened in both 3.6.2 and 4.0.0. You can be simply overwhelmed by the velocity difference. FIX IT!

I experienced the same problem. Most often, muted/very silent playback of some notes. I think that the problem is in interpreting the numbers of manually changed velocity of notes. In MS4 they changed the semantics of these numbers. Marc Sabatella explained this in one of videos on his YouToube channel. I'm not sure that I understand it all because I still do not understand why they had to change this?
I follow the advice of Marc Sabatella to select all notes and set velocity to 0. This improves things a lot but I think that it just resets all velocities to "no manual change"?
The real solution would be, I suppose, that MS4 adjusts the manually changed velocity numbers while it converts MS3 file to MS4 file (when you open MS3 file in MS4)?

True dude, it's just goddamn frustrating that you'll have to chande the velocity of the notes manually, and without the aid of piano roll, one by one... Hoping for the MuseScore Team to have a velocity converting calculator implemented in the next version...
Yes, this is a known limitation currently - the velocity system is undergoing major improvements, and unfortunately as part of that, adjustments made in older versions aren't compatible. It's possible a future update will provide a better transition path. This is a known issue already reported on GitHub.
