Can not scale images in vertical frame in MuseScore 4 anymore
I use Musescore 4.0.1.230121751 on Ubuntu 22.04 Linux.
I can not scale images in a vertical frame anymore.
Did we lose this feature because of MuseScore 4.x?
In Muse score version 3.6.2. I could scale an image in a vertical frame.
I use images in vertical frames to add an instruction how to perform a specific Ornamentation or an instruction how to count a specific measure.
Because I can not scale the image I can hardly read it. Do I something wrong? I can not find teh instruction in the manual either. Or am I impatient, because you just released MuseScore 4?

Due to your inquiry I tried adding an SVG image to a vertical frame in MuseScore 4.
In MuseScore 4.01:
• I'm unable to scale the SVG image, neither in locked aspect, nor by vertical or horizontal scaling.
• When I clicked the SVG it didn't highlight (in v3 it gains an encompassing rectangle highlight) and the two scaling handles did not appear.
• Additionally I can't reposition the SVG with the frame like I can in MuseScore 3.6.2—it's lock in the upper left corner of the frame.
So I tested with the same SVG image to a note in MuseScore 3.6.2:
• I CAN scale it with in locked aspect ratio (the default option)
• When clicked a rectangle surrounds it indicating that it is selected and two scale handles appear.
• I can independently scale it vertically or horizontally unlocking the dimensions in Properties>Image.
• I can also reposition it.
The loss of these features are regressions.
Interestingly these issues do not occur with Horizontal frames or Text frames.

Thank you for your reply. But my problem is not related to MuseScore 3.6.2. My problem applies to MuseScore 4.0.1. I do not use SVG but a PNG image. As mentionted before, I was able to scale a PNG image in a vertical frame, but in MuseScore 4.0.1 it seems they changed something. See attached score.

Right. That's why I tested in MuseScore 4 and confirmed the issue you reported.
I cited 3.6.2 to emphasize that this is a v4 regression—the loss of a feature previously properly functioning. Sorry if that was unclear. I amended the post to clarify that point.
PNG vs. SVG vs. JPG shouldn't matter. But I will test and report if I see a difference. (Update: I tested by dragging a PNG to a vertical frame and again confirm your experience.

Thank you. Our messages crossed eachother. In my message I attached a test score with the problem.

Workaround:
• Drag the PNG to Measure 1
• Then drag it to appear as if placed in the vertical frame
• Resize freely as you could in MuseScore 3
When the "in frame" scaling issue is fixed you can cut the image and paste into the frame.

Here's another workaround, this time one that will allow you to scale images placed in vertical frame in MS4, but you have to be willing to temporarily change the frame size.
The problem is that MuseScore 4 stacks the image beneath the frame, instead of on top. So it follows, if the image shorter or narrower than the frame it will be unselectable by a normal click, and thus unscalable and unmovable.
Workaround:
• Drag the bottom edge of the vertical frame upward until you can see a portion of the image below the bottom of the frame.
• Click the portion of the image below the frame to select it.
• The scale handles will appear so you'll be able to scale the image.
• Then, if desired, return the frame height to the original position/setting
Cumbersome but it works.

Thank you for your help and posting the problem. I just tried your work-arround and it worked for me.
