"File" => "New" creates a 2nd instance of MuseScore rather than a new tab (MuseScore 4)
In MuseScore 4, whenever I click on "File" => "New", I get another instance of MuseScore rather than just a new tab.
OS: Windows 10 Version 2009, Arch.: x86_64,
MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.1-230121751, revision: 9b70a8c

You aren't doing anything wrong. This is the way MS4 works. Not likely to change.

It does not significantly affect me (other than a minor change in workstyle).

It caught many by surprise. And many don't like it. Doesn't bother me either. Lots of software works that way.
