MuseScore 4.01 Won't start or run with Finale loaded
New MS4 user so I apologize if this is a known issue.
This likely isn't a common problem for most users but may help somebody or point to a potential problem with other programs.
If Finale is loaded MS4 brings up splash screen and then doesn't load further. If MS4 is running and I start Finale, MS4 disappears.
I am a very light notation user these days and thought I'd give MS4 a try, so far I'm happy - it isn't perfect but it also hasn't had the bug-fix time in the user community that MS3 has. I do find what sounds like excessive echo/reverb on the MuseSounds to be a bit much. However, I was surprised to see that MS4 automatically linked up to my Garritan VSTs and Aria player- great!

I know that Sibelus has a setting that allows it to have exclusive control of the audio device. This setting needs to be turned off. You might check to see if Finale has something similar.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It was grayed out in Finale or possibly the Realtek settings since it is set in Windows. Bit strange IMO, had to select the output device, Speakers, Properties then Advanced. There is a box for giving application exclusive control and another underneath to "Give exclusive mode application priority" ?? . Anyway, unticking the application exclusive control automatically unticks the exclusive mode ... box.
Tried to see if just unticking one box would help but between doing that and restarting the two programs I got too mixed up to now state what was what with any certainty :). Unticking both boxes seems to allow them to coexist and play through MIDI.

I know what you mean about getting mixed up. But I'm really old and have an excuse.
