different time signatures - bug?

• Apr 25, 2025 - 11:02

Hello!

I am preparing an orchestral score. I added all the instruments and the general time signature 12/8. But a few instruments will start in 4/4. I added it successfully to the English horn, and successfully to the bass clarinet. And when I come to the contrabassoon and add 4/4, the complete score switches to 4/4! Yes, I used ctrl+4/4 like in the other instruments and checked multiple times. I always changes the whole score to 4/4. Same when I changed the contrabasses to 8/8.
What am I doing wrong or is it a bug?

Thanks and best wishes,
Tobias

I noticed an interesting fact: If I change the position of the contrabassoon (or any other instrument) in the 3rd order (top to bottom), the individual time changes work! So this very much looks like a bug!

It seems to be an error.
But if you select the measure first and then use Ctrl + 4/4 time signature, then it works.
Dragging with Ctrl+4/4 works for all measures, but not the first one.
How did you achieve it for the English horn and bass clarinet? I have no idea!

Are you on a different OS? I'm on Windows.

There are two methods to set a local time signature:

  • Get the time signature from the palette while holding down the Ctrl key and drag it to a measure.
  • Select the measure and press Ctrl + the time signature in the palette.

The first method does not work if you choose measure no. 1 - this is a mistake. But it works with measure 2 and others.
