What things does exported mscz file as an xml lose?
When I export my mscz file as an xml music file what things do I loose? Is it like only the style of the score and volume and panning settings?

Pretty much anything having to do with the formatting of the score. The music itself - including almost all markings, plus text etc - comes through, but not info about the exact positions of things. Each program will have its own layout algorithms, so after export/import, you will generally get the default layout of the importing program.

@Marc Sabatella:
-- I see. Thank you. So, at least to some degree I can these days, while MS4 is still struggling with crashing and corruption issues, rely on the practice of saving copies of my latest creations in the way of exporting them as MXL. MXL files can't crash, after all.

Write errors can happen regardless of file format. But, if you are going to use MusciXML, better to use the uncompression format, because it's specifically the compression used in the MSCZ where things appear to have gone wrong with that one specific file you posted earlier, so I'd expect MXL to be susceptible to the same sort of errors.

If compression is the culprit, why not use MuseScore's uncompressed (.mscx) format?
Would not this mitigate the formatting losses of using MusicXML as score backup?

The mscx export is a bit experimental, not well tested, so who knows what other problems might ensure. But indeed, you won't lose info the way you will with MusicXMl, so it doesn't hurt to save that as well.
More important, though, is to get to the bottom of how this happened in the first place. ZIP corruption has been an ongoing issue for several years, and while there are fewer reports of it with MU4 than there were with MU3, they obviously still exist. It would be wonderful to finally understand what causes it.

Thanks for the follow-up, and I agree about the ZIP corruption issue (most especially those zeroed-out scores).
