Musescore 4 - offset notes horizontally by 0.25 instead of default 0.5

• Jun 10, 2023 - 19:54

In the Appearance tab, moving notes horizontally left or right with the arrows is nice and quick but is there a way to change their default increment / decrement value from 0.5 to only 0.25, as I often move notes by 0.25 or 0.75 etc. I can otherwise manually enter via keyboard but the arrows would be quicker. (Same with Leading, Minumum distance etc.) Thanks for all.

I don't think there is a way to change the behavior of spinboxes, but if you put the note into Edit mode (press F2 or use right-click menu) then you can use the arrow keys t move in 1/4 sp increments, if you first check the "Snap to grid" box in Properties, then use the configure grid button to set 1/4 sp. At least, it seems to work that way for me; I haven't really fully explored this.

V3 (and V2) were so much better. To move notes (and rests), switching to Edit mode (double-click), the increment was 0.1sp each time the right/left and down/up (useful for the rests) arrows was pressed.
Essential for fine-tuning the layout when, for example, for classical guitar polyphony where all voices are brought together in a single staff and in extremely tight writing.

Unfortunately, this basic feature (for me) that has disappeared in V4 (what reason?!) , among many others. So disappointing. 😪

EDIT: I suppose this regression has something to do with it: https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/10642
Ironically, Tantacrul called it: improving the quality of life improvement... 😴
