MuseScore 4 - How to change to pizzicato?
Before, one would add text, go to the system text properties, and enable pizzicato. This seems to not be available in MuseScore 4; is this simply not a feature added in yet, or is there a new way to do this?

That hasn't been necessary for many years. All you need to do is add "Pizz" from the text palette, in both MU3 and MU4.

BTW, I just noticed from a score I created in MU3 that the "Pizz/Arco" transferred as text, but did not replicate during playback in MU4. When I deleted and replaced them in MU4, they worked just fine. Not sure if anyone else had that issue.

That shouldn't be the case - this was true I think during an early alpha or beta build but was fixed months ago. if you have a score that still demonstrates the issue, attach it here so we can take a look.

In my case, when I change Pizz to Arc for Cello, notes keeping some seems pizz.
Please checkout my score. Foremore, note the weak and soft sound of Cello, even using FF as dynamic

There is no pizz marking in here, but if I add one at the beginning, I don't hear a problem - it switches back to arco where it says it should. Volume sounds about right too,a lthough there is nothing to compare to since there are no other instruments. Are you sure you attached the right score?

Hi, I cannot find pizzicato/arco/1-2-3-4 voices anymore via right click etc on the pizz. text as in Version 3. Can please anyone help? Thanks a lot.

I only find swing and kapo there

Remark: found it how to change from the palette but it changed it for both 1st and 2nd voice instead of only 2nd voice.
Classic string instruments like cello often use gripping hand pizzicato (+) simultaneously with arco, this does not work as it did in Version 3. There it worked fine...
So please I need help how to get arco or pizzicato separately for each of the 4 voices per system, thank you

I've always preferred this method since it allows full manual customization of text; glad to see it has an option in a palette. Do you know if it will be available as a feature by editing text properties in the future, or is that being fully discontinued?

It’s impossible to say for sure to what extent customization will return. But it does seem likely that some customization of these new elements (which, as the status bar will show you, are no longer staff texts, but a new element type) will be implemented at some point.

But when I did, It played the note through the entire score

Having the same problem. Put in "pizz" in text and no change from arco. Any suggestions. Finding Musescore 4 a challenge.

What could be more intuitive than picking that pizz. text from the pallette?
Playback doesn't work for me either, after adding "pizz." from the text palette. When clicking on an individual note it sounds pizzicato, but on play back it is arco.

Should work unless maybe you're trying to add this to an extremely old score, from say four or more years ago. Then you might need to update your instrument definition (in the instruments panel, replace instrument, and choose same instrument again).
If you continue to have trouble, please attach the score so we can understand and assist better.

Maybe 2 year old MS3 score, opening now in MS4.
Now I find it does work for simple bars, but not this bit!
Score attached (rough draft) - it's bar 234 Viola.

Indeed, looks like pizz is not supported for arpeggios currently. That is something you should report as an issue on GitHub. meanwhile, the workaround would be to disable playback for the arpeggio symbols using the Properties panel.

OK, thank you Marc. Making do with unarpeggiated chords for now!

PS GitHub says this when trying to create an issue
"This issue tracker is used only for tracking development events.

So I logged it here https://musescore.org/en/node/344247

Or #344247: Pizzicato playback doesn't work for arpeggiated chords
But better still ignore that message and report on GitHub anyway
I find that the pizz/arco works for Muse sounds, but not for soundfonts brought from outside, such as the Aegean Orchestra sounds. Is there a way to adjust that?
